Digi Fuuuuuuuuuu-Yooooooooooh!!!!!!!!!!

This is a post about Digi Fu-Yoh! Street Blast at Kota Kinabalu on 2nd June 2007. Kind of a photo-blog…

Nothing wrong with the title. It was meant to be like that. After accepting the assignment from Josh Lim (Advertlets) couple of days back, I bought a new Canon PowerShot A460 digital camera just for the event. My Sony Cybershot S40 died a month ago after serving my family for 2+ years.

Anyway, I headed to Padang Merdeka, in the heart of Kota Kinabalu city exactly at 7pm. I know, it’s early, but I just want to make sure that I won’t be caught in traffic. I called Eric (nice guy) who is one of Digi representative which supposed to give me a special entry pass – and he did.

It started a bit slow with few songs from the winners of Digi Celebri-Teen competition 2006, but it was not long. Estranged, a local Sabahan group lead by Rich AF4, live up the night with an energetic performance. And the night goes really Fuuuuu-Yooooooh!!!!! after that.

Need I say more? I think pictures and maybe few YouTube clips will tell you more than a thousand word. Enjoy!!!

Yellow Man – The official Digi mascot for their promotion. They are dancing with Siarra.

Disagree. Sorry for the audio. I was standing in front of their sub-woofer…

Lo. Cool guy!

I did get hold with Lo. Mentioned to him that I like him – without his Chelsea!!! Cheers bro!

The good thing about having a backstage pass was this. I managed to capture this photo of Lo without any disturbance. Thanks to Eric for giving us the backstage pass!

Sleeping for less in Orlando – and visit Disney World!

Orlando Vacation HomesWhen you’re traveling, your vacation room becomes a home away from home. You want accommodations that are safe, clean, and comfortable, all for a reasonable price. If you are planning to spend sometimes in Disney World for your holiday, you may want to read this:

Bank on vacation homes. We all like to be pampered now and then. Still, spending $150 a night to sleep in a hotel seems ridiculous when vacation homes offer rooms for half the price. And it also comes with complete family amenities like kitchen and pools for you and your children.

Orlando Vacation Homes provides complete vacation home planning center, which offers theme park tickets and vacation package to visit Disney World. It is a good choice for your trip because:

  1. Close to Disney World. All their vacation homes are within 8.5 miles to Disney World. The total traveling time from any of their homes to Disney World’s Main Entrance is less than 15 minutes.
  2. All of their homes are Brand New – Less than 4 years old! This is very important to know, because while there are some very nice vacation homes in Orlando that are 7 or 8 years old the other homes in their community might not be so nice.
  3. You can choose between Executive level homes and Standard level homes – to suits your pocket. Either way, you won’t make any mistake on your choice.

Successful money transfer from PayPal to my E*Trade account

Unending (or non ending?) challenge for Malaysian citizen who have (have to!) PayPal account – unable to withdraw the money from PayPal account directly – unless they do either:

  1. Have an E*Trade Brokerage account.
  2. Use Virtual Money Inc. debit card.

And to make it even worse, lately, PayPal have reviewed back the account which connected to VMI debit card. It seems that PayPal claimed that VMI is not a financial institution, and PayPal sniffed that most of Asian countries which is not certified and high fraudulent rate (like Malaysia) use it to take their money out. Hmmm…. it makes our life even more difficult eh?

Me? Luckily, I received E*Trade Platinum Debit Card last week. After activating, it took me another few days of experimenting the validity of the card and at last, I managed to transfer the funds from PayPal to my E*Trade account this morning. It took 4 days for the transaction to be completed. Here is the screenshot:

So, if you still do not have an account, apply for E*Trade. It took me 9 months waiting for the card. I guess it’s worth a wait!

Thinking of having a vacation?

Vacation Rentals by OwnerPlanning your vacation includes deciding what to take with you and what to leave behind. To make the vacation packing easier (and cheaper) for you, then you might have to consider this:

  1. Lighten up. Luggage that’s heavy before you put anything in it will be a nightmare to transport when it’s full. Invest in the lightest bags you can find. Your clothes and other personal items will more than make up for the difference in weight.
  2. Carry on what you can. If you’re flying, ask your carrier how many bags you’re allowed to take on board. If you can fit all your necessities in one bag, do. Otherwise, you’ll have to wait 20 minutes or so at baggage claim – provided, of course, that your bags actually arrive with you.
  3. Take advantage of amenities. Pack as few toiletries and cosmetics as possible in the smallest containers possible. Don’t take anything that you know your hotel will supply, such as soap and shampoo.
  4. Mix and match. By selecting your travel wardrobe wisely, you can make many outfits from just a few articles of clothing. Two shirts and two pairs of shorts or pants could last you four days with a little creative coordination. Accessories can increase your outfit options.
  5. Pack with panache. When packing your suitcase, put shoes and other heavy items on the bottom. Next go lightweight items, followed by wrinkle-prone items on top. Use plastic bags to house and separate items and to hold dirty clothing on your return trip.
  6. Try looking for vacation rentals by owners. You can deal with the owner of your stay directly and discuss all the expenses incurred. You can save huge amount of money if you pick the correct rental place. VLBO is one of the portal which gathers all vacation rental owners in US, Canada, Caribbean and Mexico. If you think that your next vacation situated in one of the country mentioned, you should check out their portal.

Happy vacation!

A stone with a human face on Mt. Kinabalu

I received an email from Cikgu Ismail, a teacher from SMK Indahpura, Kulai last week. He attached a photo claimed to be taken from the mountain by other Mount Kinabalu climbers, showing a stone with a human face on it. This is the first time I heard about it, and I just would like to share the photo with you.

I am not sure whether you can appreciate the photo. You may need to switch on your imaginative thinking if you don’t see it.

Advertlets vs Nuffnang – result after 1 month

I did mentioned to you about getting the result after running both ads for 1 month. Nuffnang and Advertlets have served this blog for more than 30 days, a time frame that is good enough to gauge how much they have spent for a blogger/webmaster like me. I don’t want to comment, but you can see it for yourself:

PPP is getting better with PPP Direct

I told you before that I love PayPerPost. After fiddling around with a lot of other blog advertising network, PPP is still the best. And today, the best is getting better. PPP introduces PPP Direct – similar like ReviewMe – but pays more. (I don’t like SponsoredReviews because I have to bid to get to write post. And until now I have not won ANY bid)

I don’t know why they called it “Birdo Release”, but PPP Direct will enable advertisers to directly approach Posties to get them to write special blog posts. Posties then have to specify specify the minimum amount they want to be paid for these PPP Direct opportunities and stick a widget on their blog. When an advertiser finds the blog and decides they would like the Posties to write something they just click on the badge attached to the widget and make them an offer.

PPP DirectThe service charges? I am now evaluating my reviews, so that advertisers will know how much they should pay me to write their reviews. As ReviewMe rate my blog as USD40 per post (which means I only get USD20) and SponsoredReviews rate my blog around USD10-USD40, I am calculating that with PPP Direct, I should earn around USD20 per post. By saying that, you will be surprised that you will only pay me USD22 (the extra USD2 is for PPP Direct service charges) if you are an advertiser. The charges is the lowest among those 3 mentioned blog marketplace. Sounds fair right?

With their “Birdo Release”, they also announced Benches – a feature that I think help me the most. I get really annoyed with this 6.01 advertisers. I know I am qualified to post, but my blog theme does not! So, I am going to “bench” all those advertisers for 90 days from now on – until I made a new blog specifically for them.

Cheers!

I received my Platinum Visa Debit Card from E*Trade

I received 3 parcels from FedEx couple of days back, which was separately loaded with 2 Platinum Visa Debit Card and 1 PIN number. I was really surprised, as I expect to receive the parcels in a month. But E*Trade send it in just 5 days!!!

I load USD4.50 on my E*Trade brokerage account from PayPal before I requested them to send me the card. It seems that the regulation for you to have USD1000 in the account before you can get the card is not quite correct. You CAN get the card although you only have less than USD10 in the account.

Next, the activation phase. It seems the toll free number that E*Trade give us is not valid if you call from Malaysia. AT&T could not connect you to E*Trade’s card activation personnel although E*Trade claimed that the call that we made from Malaysia is free. They even mentioned to me that I may have to bear the cost of calling to activate the account from E*Trade.

Hmmm… I was thinking of having an iTalk prepaid card from TM to make the call, as it will be cheaper to call to US from Sabah. It took me 2 hours to realize that I can make the call for free – with Skype! I know, it is silly for me to uninstall Skype few months back, but knowing that it will cost me nothing to call from my notebook to US, I installed the old version of Skype from my software archive folder. Well, although it is not the latest one, I still can make the call, and the activation of my Platinum Visa Debit Card from E*Trade took only 10 seconds! Gosh! That was really, really fast! Oh, it did not cost me anything also!

Next, would be the moment of truth. To make sure my platinum card IS activated and working. Yesterday, I drop by HSBC ATM on my way to the clinic. Guess what? The card in working fine! However, it only showed USD3.70, not USD4.70 as stated in my internet account. That was strange.

But anyway, I am quite happy to know that I have an option to suck out all my money from PayPal through E*Trade. I will try to cash out small amount of money first, before I go for the bigger one.

Wait for my findings…

What can you do to stop global warming

By reducing your carbon footprint, i.e. reduce your notebook/PC emission of carbon dioxide, a green house gas that contribute to the increasing temperature of our Mother Earth. Snap.com introduces CO2 Saver, a lightweight program that manages your computer’s power usage when it’s idle, saving energy and decreasing the demand on your power utility.

CO2 Saver

The less electricity produced, the fewer harmful emissions and greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide (CO2) are released into the atmosphere. So, what are you waiting for? Download and install it in your PC and save the earth in no time…
