I need your help… I am writing a book on Mount Kinabalu

Yes. I am writing a book about Mount Kinabalu. A true physical book, that you can own, read and write on it. Not just some online PDF copy of an ebook. I did published an ebook about climbing Kinabalu 2 years back which you could get it for only USD7 (donation), but think I it needs a revamp and updates.

I am planning to publish the best few selected post from this blog to be included in the book, mainly on the tips and guidelines which will benefit any climbers who planned to climb Mount Kinabalu.

I will also includes some of the important information on climbing Mount Kinabalu which are in the website. But I will not mention anything about how sucks it is with the booking process.

It will just be a writing of how-to guide to prepare the climb, without mentioning any issues, as I think by the time this book is widely available, the issues should be resolved.

If you don’t mind, I would really love to hear some feedback and suggestion from you regarding my intention.

  1. Are the articles on the climbing tips enough or do I need to write some more? (You may check the articles from the Articles page).
  2. If not, what are the areas that I should cover?
  3. What would be the suitable book title for it? Can “Kinabalu Blog” be a book title?
  4. Should I add Kota Kinabalu and my background Rungus extended family to be featured inside the book?
  5. Do you have your own personal opinion?

I am also looking for a local publisher to help me on this book project, as getting some online publisher to do the task seems costly. Do you have any suggestion on any good publisher here in KK?

The aim of the book is to be the most lightweight and handy travel guide book on climbing the majestic mountain of Borneo.

  1. Regarding adding info about KK and your extended family to be featured, can also, but not too long lah… Perhaps a good one to include is: why you are so passionate about the mountain that you feel compelled to write a book about it? What’s so special about it?

  2. Hi drizad, will take a good look at it when time permits. While you may not want to include the difficult booking process, I would suggest that you provide some advice on the need to book in advance and the fact that sutera monopolises the accomodation up there.

I guess, ultimately your objective with the book is to let more people know the beauty of Kinabalu, the people and the beauty of Sabah. If your book could send this message out, then you have succeeded.

Do let us know, would like to get one copy as a form of support. Or, if you need, may help you to ask major bookstores over here to display your book.

    Good day, drizad.

    bye.

  4. Hi Drizad

I have great memories about mount Kinabalu . I was climbing that mountain in 1982 with my fellows as I was still one of the boy scout at SMJK La Salle in KK. I was the youngest boy scout at that time. most of the boy scouts are already 16 or 17 years old. But i was only 12 at that time.

I have no preparation and I even have not bringing any climbing tools. All I have is only my courage and my happiness . Guest what ? I still reach the peak and sign the book up there.

This is my suggestion on your book, maybe you can also write about the possibilities to reach the peek for children as long as they are guarded enough with grown people, of course they should be healthy and fit enough to climb it.Most important is that they should fell happy and strong enough to carry their own bag haha. I am pretty sure that there are many youth club , such as boy scouts all over the country whose interested enough to try to climb the mountain as soon as they found out that there is also opportunity to bring their young lads to and exotic adventure.

OK good luck with your book and I hope that more people will send you suggestions on how to be a professional writer.

    p/s
Each time I was tired during the climbing, I just simply sing this song
” Hei ho Hei hoo…. anybody home…., food and drink and money have I none…. but still I will be happy….”(continuously)
