Do you know that you can see Mount Kinabalu from Google Earth? Wondering what Google Earth is? Google Earth is a service by Google which provides 3D interface of the planet. Yes, almost anywhere as long as it is on the surface of the Earth. Google Earth combines satellite imagery, maps and the power of Google Search to put the world’s geographic information at your fingertips. In short, you can actually see your house in the internet via this service.
What you can do with Google Earth? Plenty. Like what Google list out:
- Fly from space to your neighborhood. Type in an address and zoom right in.
- Search for schools, parks, restaurants, and hotels. Get driving directions.
- Tilt and rotate the view to see 3D terrain and buildings.
- Save and share your searches and favorites. Even add your own annotations.
Today I manage to spend my time using FREE Google Earth service to look for Mount Kinabalu. I was really surprise with the result. It was the first time I saw Mount Kinabalu in 3D! I would like to share with you what I got:
Okay, okay. It is 2 dimentional. What about this one? Can you appreciate it?
Can you see it? Cannot? Well, The best way to get close to Mount Kinabalu is download your own Google Earth on your desktop. It’s FREE (I love freebies), and if you think that you need more, you can upgrade your Google to Google Earth Plus and Google Earth Pro later.
Get it from here:http://earth.google.com/
After downloading and installing it to your desktop, ( you need to make sure that your desktop fullfill the requirement from Google. Otherwise your Google Earth is not going to function properly) download this file on your Google Earth. You can work around with it and see Mount Kinabalu in a different perspective.
The good things about Google Earth is: It support Windows, Mac and Linux.
The not so good things about Google Earth is: SOMEBODY OUT THERE IS WATCHING YOU!
Have a nice day Google Earth-ing! 😉
